PALM HARBOR, FLA. – The GVSU men's golf team closed out their fall campaign at the Copperhead Championship down in Florida this afternoon. In a field loaded with ranked teams, the Lakers were able to claim fifth place, paced by
Charlie Cooley's third place finish.
Results
Lee held on to claim the team title, closing out at one over, ending two strokes up on host West Florida. The Argonauts were second at three over, followed by Oklahoma Christian in third at ten over. Coker climbed into fourth at +12, with the Lakers behind them in fifth at +15.
Cooley shot a final round of 70 (-1), making five birdies in the process, to close the tournament in a tie for third at three under.
Manuel Cue Vargas came in a tie for 19
th at +4, carding a final round of 73 (+2) with two birdies.
Drew Coble made three birdies in his final round of 73, ending in a tie for 29
th at +7. Also tied for 29
th was
Nick Krueger, who shot a final round of 78 (+7) with one birdie.
Alex Jordan was tied for 89
th at +27, having a final round of 80 (+9).
