Anthony Cardamone has been named the National Defensive Player of the Week for his play in the #4 Lakers' 49-28 victory over then #1 Ferris State before a crowd of 16,577 at Lubbers Stadium.
Cardamone tallied career-highs in tackles (11), tackles for loss (4.0/-25) and QB sacks (3.0/-23, while also picking off a pass and returning it for a touchdown. Cardamone was part of a GVSU defense that recorded 13 tackles for loss (-79), 8.0 quarterback sacks (-66) and limited one of the nation's top rushing teams to 55 rushing yards on 29 carries. On the year Cardamone has 27 tackles, 7.0 TFL and 4.0 QB sacks. The Laker defense has limited its last five opponents to 200 rushing yards on 134 carries.
