Charles DeLong Named GLIAC Player of the Year

ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced Charles DeLong as the 2022 GLIAC Player of the Year on Wednesday, May 11. DeLong won the individual NCAA DII Men's Golf Regional Championship title scoring one-under par (215) at the NCAA DII Central/Midwest Regional Tournament. He is one of only three Laker men in program history to have won the individual regional championship. 

DeLong led Grand Valley State to a second place finish at regionals in a sudden death match for first-place against Central Missouri. DeLong won three tournaments in the regular season including the Arendsen Invitational (207), Motor City Invite (135), and the Bill Blazer Memorial (140). He placed within the top-five at eight tournaments, including his four first-place finishes. He was named GLIAC Golfer of the Week four times this year, twice in the Fall and twice in the Spring. DeLong enters the National Championship ranked 17th in DII and earned GLIAC First Team All-GLIAC honors. 

Nick Krueger earning First Team All-GLIAC honors. Krueger placed 19th at the GLIAC Championships and 21st at the Midwest/Central Regional. He also placed within the top-10 five times throughout the 2021-22 year. Drew Coble and Eric Nunn earned Second Team All-GLIAC honors. Both men finished within the top-25 at the GLIAC Championships. Coble placed 16th at the Regionals, and had five top-20 finishes throughout the season. Nunn has also scored five top-20 finishes placing ninth at the Findlay Spring Invite carding 215.
