ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Grand Valley State women's tennis team ended the regular season with a 7-0 sweep over Saginaw Valley State Saturday (April 23) at the GVSU Tennis Courts. The Lakers finish the season with a 13-5 record overall, 7-1 in the confernece and will begin the GLIAC Tournament Friday (April 29) in Midland.
GVSU swept doubles action to claim the doubles point.
Marily Canellopoulos and
Marija Leko claimed a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles. Vasileia and
Vera Griva tallied a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles.
Estefania Hernandez and
Taylor Barrett claimed a 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles.
On the singles side, GVSU won all six matches in straight sets.
Vera Griva claimed a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles.
Marija Leko tallied a dominant 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles.
Vasileia Griva added a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles.
Taylor Barrett claimed a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles.
Estefania Hernandez tallied a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles, while
Marily Canellopoulos added a dominant 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.
