Baseball vs Augustana postponed in 8th inning due to rain

Will resume in the bottom of the 8th inning tied 4-4 Thursday

Box Score AUBURNDALE, Fla. - The Grand Valley State baseball team's game tonight (March 7) against Augustana was postponed in the 8th inning due to rain. The game was tied at 4-4 in the bottom of the eighth inning and will be resumed on Thursday (March 10) before the originally scheduled nine inning game against Augustana at 6:00 PM. Augustana will have a runner on third with no outs and a 2-1 count.

Augustana opened up the scoring in the bottom of the first inning with an RBI double that gave them a 1-0 lead. GVSU responded with a four run inning in the top of the third. Kyle Nott tied the game with a bases loaded RBI. The next batter, Christian Faust hit an RBI single to give the Lakers a 2-1 advantage. Nott would score on the next at-bat from a wild pitch to make it 3-1. An error by Augustana gave GVSU the 4-1 lead. Augustana would answer with a run in the bottom of the third with an RBI single to make it a 4-2 GVSU advantage. In the bottom of the fourth, Augustana would tie the game at four with two RBI singles. With two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning, Kyle Nott from left field threw out a runner at home to keep the game tied at four.

Austin Brown got the start for the Lakers, pitching 4.0 innings, allowing four runs on six hits, while striking out two batters. Nick Shaw pitched three scoreless relief innings for the Lakers. The senior allowed only two hits and struck out seven batters.

Connor Schuman lead the Laker offense with two hits, while Nott and Faust each recorded an RBI. Carter Rohman and MacArthur Graybill each scored a run along with Nott and Faust.

The Lakers will be back in action tomorrow (March 8) for a doubleheader against West Virginia Wesleyan at Chain of Lakes Stadium in Winter Haven, Florida. First pitch for game one is scheduled at 2:30 PM. Follow live stats at gvsulakers.com and @gvsubaseball on Twitter for live in-game updates.
