The Grand Valley State men's and women's tennis team faced West Alabama in a dual match Thursday (March 10) in Pensacola, Florida. The men won 4-3, while the women lost 7-0.
Men – GVSU claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
Sebastian Arce and
Josep Canyadell claimed a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles.
Sean Miller and Marin Matov tallied a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles.
On the singles side,
Josep Canyadell claimed a hard fought 6-7, 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles.
Sebastian Arce tallied a three set 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles.
Ignacio Morera-Lucas chipped in a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles.
Tomas Oliveira dropped a hard fought 4-6, 7-6, 3-6 three set decision at No. 4 singles.
Women – West Alabama claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
Taylor Barrett and
Estefania Hernandez dropped a hard fought 5-7 decision at No. 3 doubles.
The men will end their spring break trip against St. Mary's (TX) tomorrow (March 11) at 12:00 pm in Pensacola, Florida. The women will return to the courts Saturday, March 19 against Ferris State in Big Rapids for the GLIAC conference opener.
