The Lakers Complete The Season Sweep Of The Cardinals As They Head Into The GLIAC Tournament

ALLENDALE, MICH. – The Grand Valley women's volleyball team closed out the regular season by finishing off the season sweep of Saginaw Valley, defeating their rivals 3-1 this afternoon.

The Cardinals got out to an early start in set one, going up 7-3 before the Lakers were able to battle back and take a 9-7 lead. Both teams used mini scoring runs to trade the lead back and forth and a late 3-0 run by the Cardinals to close it out gave them the 26-24 win. Grand Valley responded well in set two, never trailing in the match en route to a 25-18 victory. Set three saw the Lakers get an early lead, racing out to a 6-1 advantage before SVSU came back to tie it at 10. The team traded points from there and they went into extra points, but GV was able to pull it out 26-24. Set four mirrored set two, as the Lakers took an early lead and never looked back, as they once again never trailed in the set, winning 25-18 to take the match.

Kendall Stover had another big game to lead the offense, tallying 15 kills and picking up a career-high 23 digs defensively. Jordyn Gates notched her 10th triple-double of the season, recording 13 kills, 32 assists, and 10 digs. Karlie Kucharczyk posted a season-high 13 kills, while Rachel Jacquay dished out 22 assists.
