Charles Delong Wins 8th Career Tournament, As Men's Golf Cruises To Event Win

DeLong Won By Three Strokes, While Team Won By 21

ALLENDALE, MICH. – The GVSU men's golf team picked up their third win of the fall campaign, completing a dominating performance at the Folds of Honor Qualifier, winning by 21 strokes. Charles DeLong picked up his eighth career victory, tying him for the most individual wins in school history, as he shot seven under throughout the tournament.
 
By winning the event, the Lakers ensured that they would be in next fall's Folds of Honor Collegiate at the American Dunes Golf Course in Grand Haven. The Lakers will again be the only Division II school at the event.
 
The Lakers shot rounds of 283, 278, and 287 to finish at four under for the event, beating second-place Findlay by 21 stokes. The Oilers were second at +17, with South Carolina Beaufort third at forty-two over. Lee was fourth at +43, and Keiser rounded out the top-5 shooting a +49.
 
Charles DeLong finished off his eighth career victory with a two-birdie round of 73, ending the tournament at seven under. Nick Krueger shot a 70 (-1) today with four birdies and finished in second place. Drew Coble tallied three birdies today and shot a 75 en route to a fifth-place finish. Charlie Cooley and Andrew Gwilliams both tied for 16th place (+11), as Cooley recorded three birdies and Gwilliams had two during the final round of play.
 
Cooper Bell finished off a strong tournament as an individual, also tying for 16th, while shooting a 77 today with two birdies. Alex Jordan was tied for 20th after his final round of 77 as he notched two birdies on the day. Murphy Kehoe had an eagle and a birdie today as part of his round of 84, as he finished in 50th positon. One spot behind him was teammate Tanner Moore, who was tied for 51st, as he recorded two birdies in his final round of play.

The Lakers finish out their fall season next week at the Motor City Invitational in Detroit on September 9th and 10th.
