Volleyball Completes Season Sweep Of Purdue Northwest

Lakers Sweep The Pride To Finish Off Perfect Weekend

ALLENDALE, MICH. – The Grand Valley women's volleyball team finished off a perfect weekend Saturday afternoon with a sweep of Purdue Northwest after sweeping Parkside last night. The win gives the Lakers the season sweep of the Pride and moves them to 12-5 on the season with a 6-3 record in GLIAC play.

"I was very pleased with the effort of our team tonight. Their energetic effort toward the execution of both our offense and defense tonight allowed us to play at a high level," head coach Jason Johnson remarked. "It was great to be able to reward many of our players who haven't gotten a lot of opportunity this season with playing time today. When they got their chances tonight, they didn't let the play off but pushed to keep us playing at a high level."

Grand Valley dominated set one, winning 25-12, taking an early lead and never looking back, ending the set with a Kendal Stover service ace. Purdue Northwest played with more pride in the next set, keeping it close throughout, but the Lakers closed the set on a 10-3 scoring run to take a two sets to none lead in the game. GVSU controlled the third set, winning 25-17 and taking the match 3-0.

Jordyn Gates filled up the stat sheet tonight, totaling 10 kills, 15 assists, four digs, and two total blocks.
