Lakers Lead Arendsen Invitational After 36 Holes

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Grand Valley State men's golf team is first at the end of the opening round of the 2021 Arendsen Invitational hosted by Grand Valley State at The Meadows Golf Course in Allendale, Mich. The Lakers are in first after two rounds 568 (E), followed by Findlay (577) and Wayne State (587). 
 
Charles DeLong leads the way at -4 (138) after 36-holes. DeLong started the day tied for first after carding three birdies on the front nine and notched one birdie on the back nine. DeLong ended the first round tied for first at -1. In the second round, DeLong recorded five birdies to take over the lead for the Lakers. Nick Krueger is tied for sixth after carding an even par 70 after the first 18, and ending at even (E) for the day with eight birdies. Eric Nunn currently sits at 13th (+3), followed by Drew Coble tied for 14th (+4). Nunn tallied an eagle in the first round on the back nine at a 432-yd hole par 4. 
 
"It was great to see our team play well today, but the job is not done," said head coach Gary Bissell. "It was a true team effort as we received good rounds from everyone throughout the 36-holes today. The goal tomorrow is to take it one shot at a time and to focus on ourselves." 
 
The final 18-hole round of the Arendsen Invitational begins Monday, Sept. 6 at 9:00 a.m.
