GVSU Baseball set to resume play at Parkside

The Lakers last game was April 3 at Northwood

04.22.2021

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Grand Valley State baseball team will resume play this weekend with a four-game series at Parkside, beginning on Friday at 4:00 PM ET. The Lakers have not played a game since April 3 due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols.

GVSU enters the weekend 9-9 overall and 5-3 in GLIAC play. Four schools have played 12 league games and four schools have played eight games in conference play. The Lakers currently sit tied for third in the standings, trailing Wayne State (6-2) and Davenport (8-4). It has yet to be determined if/when GVSU will make up their four-game series with Wayne State and Saginaw Valley State. Next weekend, the Lakers are scheduled to play a four-game series at Davenport and then host Ashland the following weekend.

The Lakers will be without several players this weekend and will rely upon their depth as they play their first game in 19 days. GVSU added Kyle Nott, a member of the GVSU football team and a Central Michigan University baseball transfer, to help bolster the roster.

Parkside comes in with an 0-15 record overall and 0-8 record in league play. The Rangers have been swept by Wayne State and Saginaw Valley in the conference and also played a three-game non-conference series at Purdue Northwest. Austin Emanuel leads Parkside in hitting (.404 avg.), while also leading the team in innings pitched (22 IP) with a 5.32 ERA.
