Box Score 2 MIDLAND, Mich. – The Grand Valley State baseball team dropped a doubleheader at #21 Northwood on Friday by scores of 5-0 and 20-12. The Lakers fall to 8-8 overall and 4-2 in GLIAC play, while the Timberwolves improve to 10-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play. The two teams will play a doubleheader tomorrow with the first pitch scheduled for 12:00 PM.
Game 1:
GVSU outhit Northwood, 9-8, but failed to push a run across the plate.
Carter Smith led the offensive attack with three hits, while
Parker Murdie added two hits. Freshman
Nick Rutkowski was tagged with the loss, throwing six innings and allowing five runs.
Game 2:
The Lakers trailed 7-0 through three innings of play, but rallied and scored five runs in the fourth on a trio of run-scoring doubles by
Anthony Cocco,
Joe Laudont, and
Ryan Lorber. Northwood would score nine runs across the next two innings to put the game out of reach.
Senior
Ryan Blake-Jones had a team-high four hits and three runs scored, while Cocco, Laudont, and Murdie each recorded multi-hit games.
