ALLENDALE, Mich. – The No. 9 ranked Grand Valley State women's basketball team defeated Davenport, 63-43, on Tuesday night in GLIAC action at the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena. The Lakers have now won nine-straight games and move their record to 13-1 on the season.

Brooke McKinley knocked down seven three-pointers and led the team in scoring with 22 points. The seven three-pointers are the most since Dec. 6, 2018 when
Jenn DeBoer made six three-pointers against #1 Ashland. Junior
Samantha Gehrls dished out a career-high eight assists and grabbed six rebounds, while senior
Qay Stanton had a team-high eight rebounds. Freshman
Rylie Bisballe finished the night with nine points and seven rebounds.
The Lakers jumped out to an early 10-2 lead midway through the first quarter and led 13-8 at the end of the frame. Davenport would cut the lead to two points before GVSU built their lead back up to eight points at 22-14 with 5:19 left in the half. After trading baskets, Davenport knocked down three-pointers on consecutive possessions to trim the deficit to just four points. However, the Lakers would prevent the Panthers from scoring the final 2:25 of the half and took a 28-22 lead into the break.
GVSU opened up the game in the third quarter. The Lakers led 38-31 with 3:23 left in the third quarter before going on an 8-0 run to end the third and were up 46-31 entering the fourth quarter. GVSU led by a game-high 22 points, 63-41, with 1:30 left in the game on a
Hallee Breimayer two-point jumper.
This weekend No. 19 Michigan Tech will come to Allendale for a huge showdown with the GLIAC title on the line. Saturday's tip is set for 12:00 PM.
