ALLENDALE, Mich. – The No. 13 Grand Valley State Lakers dropped a stunner, 68-65, to the Saginaw Valley Cardinals Thursday (Dec. 2) night at the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena. The Lakers led by as many as 18 points in the second half, but a barrage of three-pointers sparked the comeback that drops GVSU to 5-1 on the season and an 0-1 start to GLIAC play.
The Lakers had four in double figures for the game and were cruising with nine minutes left, ballooning their eight-point halftime lead to 18 midway through the second half. But five straight threes, some turnovers and bad breaks led to a put-back lay in with under :30 left by Saginaw to regain their first lead since 12-10 back with 11:25 left in the first half.
The Lakers host Wayne State Saturday (Dec. 4) afternoon at the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena. The game will air on 1340 AM The Ticket and stream live, pay-per-view, on the Grand Valley Sports Network.
