Men's tennis defeats Cornerstone 6-1

GVSU improves to 2-0 on the season

Box Score ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Grand Valley State men's tennis team defeated Cornerstone 6-1 Friday October 8th at Grand Rapids Racquet and Fitness. The Lakers improved to 2-0 on the season.

On the doubles side, the Lakers won all three matches. Josep Canyadell and Sebastian Arce posted a 6-4 victory from the No. 1 spot. Jack Dausman and Sean Miller claimed a 7-6 win in the No. 2 spot, winning the tiebreaker by a score of 7-5. Freddy Cossio and Martin Motov won their match 6-3 at the No. 3 spot.

On the singles side, the Lakers took five positions in straight sets. Josep Canyadell posted a 6-3, 6-1 win at the No. 1 spot. From the No. 2 spot, Sean Miller claimed a 6-1, 6-4  win. Martin Matov tallied a 7-5, 7-5 victory from the No. 4 spot, followed by Tomas Oliveira at the No. 5 spot with a 6-3, 6-0 win and Kushan Shah at the No. 6 spot with a win by a score of 6-4, 6-2.

The Lakers are back on the hard courts next week Friday, October 15th at 3 PM when they host Grace College at the GVSU tennis courts.
