ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Grand Valley State men's and women's track and field teams completed the Bill Clinger Classic on Friday (Jan. 29). The annual meet marks GVSU's third competition of the season.Â

Sophomore
Madison Dohm finished fourth in the mile (5:12.61) and fifth in the 800m (2:23.72). In the 5,000m,
Lynsey Amthor (1
st; 17:28.00),
Lilah Parker (2
nd; 17:35.28) and
Lucy Karpukhno (4
th; 17:38.89) represented the Lakers.Â
Kayce Rypma earned a provisional qualification in the 3,000m run with a second-place finish of 9:52.74.Â

In the field, senior
Carly Livingston collected a third-place finish in the pole vault with a clear of 4.00m, while freshman
Lindsey Strutz cleared 1.74m in the high jump, good for fourth place.Â
Emma Richards (shot put; 14.49m) and
Franesha Robinson-Mitchell (weight throw; 17.31m) collected second-place provisional finishes in their respective events.Â

On the men's side, senior
Makiyah Smallwood earned a provisional qualification in the 60m hurdles with a first-place time of 8.17 seconds. The Laker freshmen led the distance events as
Jack Duininck (5
th; 4:21.19) and
Colten Cripe (6
th; 4:23.51) finished one after the other in the mile,
Jensen Holm (8:20.02) swept the 3,000m field by 20 seconds and
Andrew Hylen defeated the 5,000m competition in 14:33.89.Â

For the second consecutive week, sophomore
Chanse Setzke earned a first-place leap in the long jump with a distance of 6.74m.Â
Justin Scavarda collected a pair of first-place finishes in the shot put (18.44m) and weight throw (20.20m), while
Cameron Graziosi cleared 1.99m in the high jump, good for first place.Â

The Lakers return to action next Saturday (Feb. 6) at home in the GVSU Open.Â
