The Grand Valley State women's tennis team claimed a 6-1 over Lander in its opening match in Florida. The Lakers improve to 15-3 on the year and will square off against the University of Charleston Tuesday at 11:30 am.

GVSU swept singles action, including four straight set wins. #2 Taylor Barrett (6-1, 6-0), #3 Marija Leko (6-3, 6-4), #5 Liv Hanover (6-0, 6-0) and #6 Olivia Huang (6-0, 6-3) all swept through singles action, while #1 Vera Griva (6-1, 5-7, 10-3) and #4 Marily Canellopoulos (6-7, 6-1, 10-5) won three-set affairs. Griva and Hanover claimed a 6-4 win in doubles action.
