ALLENDALE, Mich. – Grand Valley State athletics, in conjunction with University Communications, announce 14 fall sport regular season games to air on ESPN3 for the 2019 season. All seven regular season football home games (see schedule) are joined by four soccer matches and a trio of volleyball matches. Any post-season events hosted by the three sports could also be added to the ESPN3 slate.
 
The reigning national runner-up GVSU Soccer team will open up the ESPN3 season when they host Rollins College on September 5 at 7:30 PM on the worldwide leader. They will also play on the ESPN3 platform on September 24 against Illinois-Springfield, September 27 against Saginaw Valley State and on October 27 against Ferris State. Volleyball's GLIAC opening weekend will air on ESPN3 with matches against Northern Michigan (Sept.20) and Michigan Tech (Sept. 21) along with the rivalry matchup with Ferris State on October 11.
 
The GVSU Football opener is set for September 7, when the Lakers host Edinboro (PA) in the first-ever meeting between the two schools. The following week the Lakers host Delta State from Mississippi and return home on October 5 to host conference rival Ashland. GVSU will also host the 2019 Battle of the Valleys with Saginaw Valley State on October 12 and crosstown foe Davenport on October 26 for homecoming. Non-conference action with William Jewell comes to Lubbers Stadium on November 2 before GVSU wraps up the regular season with Wayne State on November 16.
 
"You won't find another Division II school in our region that has the national TV exposure of their programs and student-athletes like we do at Grand Valley State," said Deputy Athletic Director for External Relations Doug Lipinski. "The growth of our coverage on a national level has been a big catalyst to our brand's growth across the country."
 
Tom Cleary will once again be the play-by-play voice of all GVSU games on ESPN3 this season. He is joined by analyst Bob Mitchell for all football telecasts and will have various analysts for different sports throughout the year. Almost all non-ESPN3 home events will be streamed on the Grand Valley Sports Network. Details for how to find those games can be found at GVSULakers.com.
