The Grand Valley State men's tennis team traveled to Caledonia, Mich. and defeated Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent Davenport, 4-3, on Friday (April 12) night. With the win, the Lakers are now 15-6 overall and 5-2 in GLIAC play, while the Panthers drop to 11-8 on the season and 3-3 in the league.

Davenport scored the match's first point with two wins from No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
Sebastien Lescoulie and
Martin Matov dropped a 7-6 (8-6) decision from the No. 1 pairing, while
Jack Geissler and
DJ Colantone fell 6-1 from the No. 2 slot. The Lakers did pick up a win from
Jack Dausman and
Nicholas Urban, after they captured a 6-0 win from No. 3 doubles.

In singles, GVSU made its comeback as Lescoulie tallied a three set win from No. 1 singles, with a score of 0-6, 7-6, 6-2, while Geissler fell at the No. 2 spot, 4-6, 6-2, 2-6. The Lakers captured another team point from Dausman, who was playing out of the No. 3 spot by a score 6-2, 6-4, as Matov was dropped a 6-3, 6-4, decision from the No. 4 spot. GVSU scored its final two points with wins from Urban (No. 5; 6-2, 6-3) and
Eric Zwemer (No. 6; 6-1, 6-0).

The Lakers will be back in action on Sunday (April 14) for their final regular season match against Purdue Northwest at the Premier Tennis Athletic & Tennis Club in Grandville, Mich. GVSU will also be honoring their seniors as well.
