The Grand Valley State women's tennis team won its third straight match and improved to 18-4 after they traveled to Greencastle, Ind. and defeated the DePauw Tigers, 9-0, on Saturday (March 16) afternoon. The Tigers are now 3-6 this season.Â

GVSU started the match off  strong with a sweep in doubles after
Madison Ballard and
Marija Leko won 8-3, from the No. 1 pairing, while
Vera Griva and
Marily Canellopoulos captured an 8-5 victory from No. 2 doubles. The Lakers completed the sweep after
Nicole Heiniger and
Livia Christman tallied an 8-6 win from the No. 3 position.

The Lakers continued their strong play into singles as Griva won 6-1, 6-2, from the No. 1 slot, while Leko captured a 6-4, 6-1 win from No. 2 singles. Playing from the No. 3 spot was Canellopoulos, who won 6-2, 7-5, and Christman captured another point for the team after she won 6-0, 7-6 (7-3), from No. 4 singles. Grand Valley State completed the sweep after Heiniger and
Liv Hanover both won from the No. 5 and No. 6 positions. Heiniger won 6-1, 6-2, while Hanover captured a 6-2, 6-3, victory.

GVSU will be back in action on Sunday (March 16) as they travel to Louisville, Ky. to for a 10 a.m. match against Bellarmine.
