MIDLAND, Mich. – The No. 2 seeded Grand Valley State women's tennis team lost to No. 1 Wayne State in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) championship final, 4-0. The Lakers only regular season loss came to Wayne State on Oct. 19.
Sophomore
Marija Leko was defeated in No. 2 singles play, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.
Liv Hanover (6-4, 6-2) and
Agata Szewczuk (6-1, 6-0) dropped their matches in No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
The Lakers were shut out in doubles play by Wayne State for the second time this season, accounting for their only two doubles shutouts of the season. Leko and
Taylor Barrett lost in No. 2 doubles, 6-3, while
Liv Hanover and Szewczuk were defeated in No. 3 singles, 6-3.
GVSU finishes their fall season with an overall record of 10 wins and two losses with four wins coming as dominating shutouts.
