Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. – The Grand Valley State volleyball team defeated Lake Superior State on Friday by a score of 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-19) in a road GLIAC match. GVSU improves to 10-11 overall and 5-5 in GLIAC play.

Tonight's win was head coach Deanne Scanlon's 600th win of her career. The 25th year head coach has amassed a record of 600-217 (.734) and currently ranks 12th amongst active Division II head coaches in wins. Scanlon, only the second head coach in program history, has put together an impressive resume during her time in Allendale. Under her direction, the program has won 16 GLIAC Championships, nine regional championships and have made six final four appearances including the 2005 season in which the Lakers won their first national championship in a women's sport. Scanlon has been named GLIAC Coach of the Year on four occasions, NCAA Regional Coach of the Year 5 times, and was awarded AVCA National Coach of the Year in 2005.
