The Grand Valley State baseball team (21-15, 9-7 GLIAC)  will hit the road for a key GLIAC 4-game series Saturday (April 21) and Sunday (April 22) at GLIAC leading Northwood (26-9, 13-3 GLIAC). The schedule for the series has been altered due to wet field conditions at Northwood. The 4-game series will now consist of a 7 and 9-inning game both Saturday and Sunday, beginning at 1 p.m. each day. 

Grand Valley State is coming off back-to-back series splits versus Ashland and Davenport the last two weekends in frigid conditions, while the Timberwolves split a 4-game series with Davenport. The Lakers are hitting .312 as a team and averaging 7.1 runs per game with 65 doubles, 10 triples and 20 home runs. As a team GVSU has a .436 slugging percentage and a .407 on base percengage. Sophomore 1B Ryan Blake-Jones leads the GLIAC in batting average, hitting .466 with 61 hits, 43 RBI, six doubles and six home runs. Senior catcher Austin LaDoux has caught fire and is hitting .424 with 53 hits, a team-high 12 doubles, three triples, two home runs and 24 RBI. Junior RF Jacob Gleason is hitting .389 with 51 hits, 11 doulbes, three triples and is tied for the team lead in home runs (6) with Blake-Jones. 

The GVSU pitching staff has a team ERA of 4.60 and an opponent batting average of .250. The Lakers have recorded 266 strikeouts and walked 128. Senior Ryan Arnold leads the pitching staff with a 5-1 record and a 4.59 ERA. He has logged 49.0 innings, yielding 30 runs, 48 hits and an opponent batting average of .251 with 40 strikeouts. Senior Tate Brawley, a two-time ESPN SportsCenter top 10 highlight honoree last week, is 4-1 with an ERA of 4.60, yielding 24 runs and 48 hits in 47.0 innings of work with 35 strikeouts and just six walks. Senior relief pitcher Kyle Lawson has a 1.02 ERA with a team-high seven saves in 14 appearances. 

Northwood is hitting .295 as a team, but boasts a team ERA 3.99. The Timberwolves have walked 177 times, but walked just 105 batters in 35 games. NU has 73 doubles, 12 triples and 30 home runs, but they have struck out 304 times. Sophomore OF David Vinsky leads the T-Wolves with a .392 batting average, recording 16 doubles and driving in 30 runs. Collin McClelland has a team-high 44 RBI. The pitching staff is led by reining GLIAC Pitcher of the Year Tyler Jandron who is 7-1 with an ERA of 0.99, 68 strikeouts  and 18 walks. Ian Dimitrie is also 7-1 with an ERA of 4.64, 50 strikeouts and 10 walks. Lennon Gwizdala has a team-best 10 saves.
