GVSU Baseball Set For 4-Game Series At Lewis

The 2018 Grand Valley State baseball tem (8-7) will hit the road for a four-game series at GLVC rival Lewis (5-7) University Friday (March 16) through Sunday (March 18). First pitch for Friday's matchup is 4 p.m. ET. 

The Lakers finished their spring trip to Florida with a 6-3 mark versus five teams that are either ranked in the NCBWA top 25 or regionally in the NCBWA poll. GVSU will open the GLIAC portion of its schedule next weekend at Purdue Northwest.

Grand Valley State junior RF Jacob Gleason is coming off a GLIAC Player of the Week honor in which he hit .500 in nine games on the Lakers' spring trip to Florida in which they went 6-3. He was 17-for-34 with 13 RBI, 11 runs scored, four doubles and a home run. Gleason also walked six times and was 1-1 in stolen bases. He tallied a slugging percentage of .706 and an on base percentage of .585. Gleason was 5-for-6 with six RBI in a win over Cedarville, while also recording a 4-for-4 effort vs. Rockhurst and a 3-for-3 outing vs. defending National Champion and currently 13th-ranked West Chester. Gleason currently leads the GLIAC in hits (27) and RBIs (20), while ranking second in batting average (.482).
