The No. 11 Grand Valley State women's basketball team is set to take the floor for the final time in 2018 when they host National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) foe Lourdes on Saturday, Dec. 28 in a 3:00 PM contest inside GVSU Fieldhouse Arena. The Lakers will put their eight-game winning streak on the line as they are 10-1 overall and 4-0 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) action while the Gray Wolves (5-8, 2-5 WHAC) will look to snap a three-game skid on GVSU's home floor.Â

GVSU was last on the hardwood on Wednesday, Dec. 19 when they outlasted a tough Bellarmine squad to earn an important in-region victory over the Knights, 87-74. Junior center
Cassidy Boensch continued her dominant string of games with her eighth straight double double after pouring in 26 points to go along with 16 rebounds. The Au Gres, Mich. native leads the team with 19.2 points per game to go along with 12.9 boards. She has also picked up a team-high 35 blocks as well.Â

Jenn DeBoer has also been a high-powered offensive weapon for the Lakers this season as she is averaging 17.3 points per game on 47.9% shooting from the field, including an even more impressive 93.8% from the free throw line (30-of-32). She also leads the team with 47 assists.Â

Fellow starting guards
Victoria Hedemark and
Natalie Koenig are averaging 9.4 and 8.8 points, respectively, while Hedemark has a team-best 27 steals, while Koenig has 21 swipes herself to go along with 28 assists. Starting forward
Maddie Dailey is also averaging 8.5 points to go with her 5.6 boards per contest.Â

The Gray Wolves, who are scoring 67.6 points per contest, are going up against a Laker defense that ranks inside the top-25 nationally in most defensive categories, including their 20th ranked scoring defense, which allows just 55.2 points per game.Â

Jami Hardy and Sydney Miller come in as Lourdes' top scorers, as they are averaging 9.9 and 9.6 points per game, respectively. Miller is also averaging a team-best 5.2 boards per contest while Miller is a perfect 6-for-6 from the charity stripe. Christiana Jefferson is the Gray Wolves main facilitator on the offensive end as she leads the team with 52 assists to just 19 turnovers. She is also averaging 7.5 points per game.Â
