GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Grand Valley State women's tennis team improved to 16-5 on the season after a 9-0 victory over the Saints of Aquinas University.
The Lakers were able to sweep the doubles side of the matchup with three lopsided victories. The duo of Maddison Ballard and
Rachel Sumner took down Haley Kuppler and Isabella Buck by a score of 8-3. Following suit was the pair
Alexa Sweeney and
Aimee Moccia as they defeated their Saint counterparts by a score of 8-1. Not to be outdone, the duo of
Abby Perkins and
Livia Christman won their match by blanking their opponents in way to an 8-0 victory.
Singles play was much of the same for the Lakers as they were able to sweep all six matches. Out of the No. 1 spot was Ballard who claimed a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Kuppler. Moccia was victorious out of the No. 2 spot as she was defeated Buck by a score of 6-0, 6-0. Continuing the Laker dominance was
Abby Perkins who sealed a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Bailey Chouinard. Also winning their matches were
Nicole Heiniger (6-1, 6-3), Sam Schrepferman (6-1, 6-1), and Kat Samardzija (6-3, 6-1).
