Ferris State heated up over the final eight minutes, hitting three, 3-point buckets and converting all six free throw attempts, while the Lakers scored nine points, including a bucket by Greason and free throw from Ryskamp to pull GVSU within eight (28-20) at 20 minutes of action.

Senior forward Trevin Alexander scored early in the second half and the Lakers matched the Bulldogs point-for-point through the first nine minutes. Baar scored in the paint at the 11:27 mark to pull GVSU within five (44-39). However, an 8-0 run by the Bulldogs upped the lead to 52-39 before a three-point play from Ryskamp closed the gap to 10 (52-42).
