ALLENDALE, Mich.—The #6 seed Grand Valley State women's basketball team will head up north to face #3 seed Michigan Tech on Tuesday in the GLIAC Tournament Quarterfinals. The game is the third between the two teams this season, and is set for a 6 p.m. tip off.

There is a link above to follow along with live stats for the game, as well as a link to listen to the Michigan Tech radio broadcast.

Grand Valley is 1-1 against the Huskies this season, winning at home on January 16th, 68-57 in the first meeting of the teams, and dropping the second meeting 57-55 in Houghton on February 6th, as Huskie forward Danielle Blake hit a game-winning layup with one second left to stave off the Lakers. Grand Valley will come into the game as the underdog, as they remain mired in a losing streak in Houghton dating back to the 2006-07 season.

Grand Valley comes into the game on a two game win streak, having won it's last away (71-65 at Hillsdale on Feb. 20th) contest and it's home finale (vs. Ferris State on Feb. 25, 80-46).  Over the last five games, Grand Valley has been a model of consistency on offense, scoring above 70 points in each of the five contests, and averaging 74.6 points, slightly above the season average of 74.0 points, which is the second best mark in the GLIAC.

Tech comes into the matchup riding a three game winning streak, all at home. The Huskies are undefeated at home this season, posting a 12-0 record, and most recently blew out rival Northern Michigan 80-38 on Thursday. Senior forward Danielle Blake leads the Huskies with 14.8 points per game and 8.1 rebounds per game, while senior center Kylie Moxley has posted averages of 13.8 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.

Leading the charge for Grand Valley, as she has all season, is junior forward Kayla Dawson. The versatile attacker is averaging 16.8 points per game, using a myriad of talents to score from anywhere on the court. Also on the rise is the scoring of swinger Bailey Cairnduff, who has neatly raised her average to 11 points per game, and is a threat to score 20+ any given night, as she has done several times this season.

The long ball has been a versatile weapon for the Lakers this season. The team has long since eclipsed the program record for triples in a single season (218, set in 2008-09), and currently have 267 on the season, which is far and away the best mark in the GLIAC. Thursday's point leader for the Lakers, Lindsay Baker, has been on a roll from deep all season long, making 46 percent (63-137) of her attempts, and has made 18 triples in her past five games.  On the season, the Lakers have shot 38 percent from deep as a team, which is the top mark in the conference, although the Huskies (.374) are close behind in second.

From a rebounding perspective, the teams are fairly even matched. The Lakers, without leading rebounder Korynn Hincka (injury) are averaging 36.4 boards per game, 11.1 offensive. That is a slightly better mark than the Huskies, at 35.0 rebounds per game, but the difference is largely negligible. In the last matchup in Houghton, the Lakers were outrebounded, 36-33, and gave up 10 offensive boards to the Huskies.

The Lakers will attempt to avoid last year's GLIAC tournament fate, when the #9 Huskies eliminated them from the tournament with a 77-66 loss at Houghton in the semifinals, despite a career high 28 points from Brionna Barnett. With Barnett unlikely to play in Tuesday's game, it will be up to other Lakers to end the win drought in Houghton and keep the team's season going.
