#2 Grand Valley State (7-0, 6-0) will hit the road Saturday for a GLIAC tilt at Hillsdale College (3-3, 3-2). Kickoff at Muddy Waters Stadium is set for 2:30 p.m. Grand Valley State leads the all-time series with Hillsdale by a 28-11 margin and claimed a 46-14 decision a year ago in Allendale. Three-of-the-last-eight regular season matchups have been decided by three points. GVSU is averaging 44.3 points per game versus the Chargers since 2001 and have scored 41 or more points eight times. Hillsdale is averaging 19.1 points during that same stretch.

• Grand Valley State is in its 46th season of football and sports a 378-137-3 all-time record. GVSU's .7326 winning percentage tops all of college football all-time, regardless of division, that have played at least 500 games. Michigan is second (.7311) and Notre Dame third (.7308).

• Grand Valley State remained #2 in the AFCA Division II Coaches' poll with 717 points after a 41-3 victory over Truman State before a Lubbers Stadium homecoming record crowd of 13,635. NW Missouri State is #1 with all 30 first place votes and 750 points.

• Grand Valley State has been ranked in the top five of 151 AFCA Division II Coaches' polls since 2001, including 102 weeks as the number one team in the country.

• Last Week
#2 Grand Valley State claimed a 41-3 victory over GLVC leader Truman State in a homecoming matchup before 13,635 fans at Lubbers Stadium. The Lakers picked off two passes and blocked a punt for a touchdown en route to scoring 21 points in the first 5:16 of the game. Sophomore RB Marty Carter scored TDs on runs of 20 and 38 yards, followed by a 6-yard blocked punt return for Jalen Bryant. Senior PK Joel Schipper added two field goals, the first of which covered 51 yards, the third longest in GVSU football history. Sophomore QB Bart Williams hit sophomore WR Nick Dodson with a 30-yard TD pass to give the Lakers a 34-0 halftime lead. Williams connected with Dodson again, this one covering 59 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter. The GVSU defense limited Truman 127 yards of total offense, including just 27 yards rushing. Carter rushed for 104 yards and two TDs on 13 carries and Williams connected on 14-of-24 passes for 279 yards and two TDs. Dodson caught five passes for a career-high 120 yards and two TDs. Schippers 51-yard FG was the Lakers' first over 50 yards since 1997. 
• Grand Valley State continues to rank among the leaders in the GLIAC and the nation in several categories. The Lakers rank first in scoring defense (12.1), first in total defense (314.1), second in scoring offense (41.1), yards per game (497.6), rushing defense (101.3) and third in rushing offense (241.4). 

• The Lakers have outscored their first seven opponents 99-0 in the first quarter and 97-9 in the second quarter for a first half total of 196-9 (28.0 - 1.2). The Lakers are the only team in college football, regardless of division, not to yield a touchdown in the first half of a game this season. GVSU has scored in 23-of-28 quarters this season.

• Grand Valley State is one of two teams in the country (Youngstown State) to not yield a rushing touchdown through seven games this season. GVSU has a 21-0 advantage in rushing TDs. 

• GVSU has converted 41-of-81 (51.0%) attempts on 3rd down this season, while the opposition is 31-for-99 (31.0%).

• The Laker offense has been explosive the first four games of the season with 64 plays that have gone for 20 yards or more, including 16 of which have gone for TDs...WR Matt Williams leads the way with  13, followed by Marty Carter, Nick Dodson and Christian Lumpkin with 10 each and Urston Smith seven.

• The Laker defense ranks first in the GLIAC and 7th nationally in QB sacks with 27 (-143), while also ranking first in the GLIAC and 16th nationally in tackles for loss with 63 (-248). 

• Opponents have entered the Laker redzone 16 times and scored nine times (56.0%), however, just six of those trips have ended with a TD (38.0%)

• The GVSU defense has forced 31 three-and-outs and 44 drives have been five plays or less in seven games.

• Balance - The Lakers have 80 first downs via the pass and 75 first downs via the run. In addition, GVSU averages 256.1 passing yards per game and 241.4 rushing yards per game.
