Lakers Sweep GLIAC S&D Player of the Week Honors

Grand Valley State swept the men's and women's GLIAC swimming honors it was announced by the league office in Bay City, Mich. Senior Gianni Ferrero (Idstein Germany) earned the men's honor, while junior Leonie Van Noort (Leiden, Netherlands) earned the women's honor. The Laker men claimed a 180-120 win over Division I Wisconsin-Milwaukee, while the Laker women dropped a 154-146 decision. 

Van Noort won the 200 free in a Klotsche Natatorium and a GVSU varsity record time of 1:50.75 to start her day against Wisconsin-Milwauke before touching first in the 100 free in 52.83. Van Noort then added another pool record and tied the GVSU varsity record in the 500 free when she touched in 4:56.30. The junior from the Netherlands also finished second in the 200 free relay.

GVSU took a first in the 200 medley relay with Gianni Ferrero going 23.62 on the lead. Ferrero then touched first in the 100 back in a Klotsche Natatorium record time of 49.38. Ferrero added another first when he went 47.42 in the 100 free before finishing his day with another title in the 500 free in 4:42.28. The GVSU men earned a 180-120 win over Wisconsin-Milwaukee.


Grand Valley State will square off against Calvin College and Hillsdale College Friday at Calvin beginning at 5 p.m., before hosting Lewis on Saturday at 1 p.m.
