Austin Hunt

Austin Hunt enters his first year as an assistant tennis coach at Grand Valley State.
Coach Hunt comes to GVSU from McKinney, Texas where he served as the assistant tennis coach for McKinney Boyd High School from 2018 to 2020. Along with his coaching experience, Hunt also served as a Senior Economics teacher for the high school. 
 
Hunt played collegiate tennis for Cornerstone University from 2012 to 2016. He held the #1 doubles and #2 singles positions during his four years on the varsity, accompanied with multiple WHAC Conference honors throughout his career including: 
* Contender for "National Freshman Player of the Year" in 2012 
  for NAIA Men's Tennis
* All WHAC 1st Team for #1 Doubles
* All WHAC Honorable Mention for #2 Singles.
After graduating from Cornerstone University in 2016, Hunt attended the University of Michigan to earn his Master's of Science degree in Sport Management, graduating in 2017. 
Throughout his juniors career playing in USTA tournaments, Hunt reached an all-time high ranking of #22 in the state of Texas, as well as #420 nationally before committing to play college tennis.

Alongside Coach Schall, it is my ultimate goal to bring in top tier talent both in the classroom and on the tennis court. GVSU Tennis has an extremely strong tradition of producing great players and teams, but more importantly, I look forward to working with and shaping the leaders of the future."
