Biography

Nick Polk is in his second year of coaching the distance runners at Grand Valley State. In his first two years he has helped guide the men and women to 29 individual All-American honors, three NCAA Division II Women's National Championship teams (Indoor Track & Field 2011, Outdoor Track & Field 2012, and Cross Country 2012), and a third place finish for the men's cross country team in 2011. Polk also helped guide Betsy Graney to the NCAA Division II 3000 meter steeplechase national record of 9:53.85 and an individual national championship in the event.

Prior to returning to GVSU, Polk ran post-collegiately at ZAP Fitness from 2009 to 2010 as well as served as a graduate assistant Track & Field Coach at John Carroll University in 2011. Polk also worked in various capacities for Nike and USA Track & Field.

As an athlete at GVSU, Polk was a three-time NCAA Division II All-American, the lead off leg for the national championship distance medley relay team in 2008, and currently holds the GVSU school records in the 1500 (3:47.4) and 10,000 meters (29:28.6).

Polk is a USA Track & Field Level I Certified coach.
