ALLENDALE, MICH. – It was Senior Day for the GVSU women's volleyball team, as they honored four players prior to today's match against Northern Michigan. Just as they have done 98 other times in their Laker careers, GVSU came away with a victory. The 16
th-ranked team in the country improved to 12-2 this year and a perfect 6-0 in league play.
The Lakers got the job done with a sweep, winning the sets 27-25, 25-19, and 25-19. GVSU got up 15-10 in the opening set, but NMU responded to tie the match at 16. The Wildcats eventually took a 24-23 lead, their first of two game points, but could not convert either.
Paige Sanders had two kills to help the Lakers score the final three points, winning the first set. Northern Michigan went up 7-3 to begin set two, but this time it was GVSU battling back, taking their first lead at 13-12. The two teams traded points to be tied at 18, when the Lakers scored seven of the final eight points, capped off by a
Finley Arp kill. NMU once again got out to a quick lead, this time going up 6-2 in the third frame. GVSU went on a 9-2 run to take an 11-8 lead, never looking back, completing the sweep with a six-point win.
A balanced offensive attack led the way for GVSU.
Paige Sanders and
Finley Arp each had nine kills, while
Kate Goudreau added six.
Gabby Orlet distributed 40 assists, with
Lexi Armstrong totaling 19 digs. The Lakers had 11 blocks this afternoon, with Sanders totaling one solo block and three block assists, with
Brianna Stawski posting seven block assists.

Grand Valley State plays one home and one away match next week. They host Wayne State on Friday, before heading up to Ferris State on Saturday.
