CHICAGO, ILL. – The Grand Valley State women's volleyball team stayed perfect in conference play, sweeping Roosevelt in straight sets. The 17
th-ranked Lakers improved to 9-2 overall and 3-0 in GLIAC play.
Grand Valley State took the three sets by the scores 25-15, 25-15, and 25-17. After only leading 6-5 in the opening set, GVSU went on a 7-0 run to open a 13-5 lead. Another 5-0 run, then a 6-2 run to close out the match helped the Lakers to a 1-0 lead in the match. Up 13-6 in set two, GVSU rattled off a 12-6 run to end the frame, once again winning by 10 points. An 11-1 run to begin the final set gave GVSU a commanding early lead, as they never trailed all set to finish off the sweep.
Finley Arp tied her career-high with 16 kills, swinging at a .500 clip.
Paige Sanders totaled eight kills, while
Brianna Stawski had seven.
Gabby Orlet dished out 30 assists and
Lexi Armstrong dug out 18 balls. As a team, the Lakers swung at a .333 clip and held Roosevelt to a .021 hitting percentage.
