ALLENDALE, MICH. – The Grand Valley State women's volleyball team got GLIAC play underway Friday evening, hosting LSSU to the Fieldhouse. GVSU controlled the match from start to finish, sweeping Lake Superior State to being 1-0 in conference play.
Grand Valley State took the first set 25-14, followed by a 25-11 set two victory, before taking set three 25-6. GVSU held a slim 10-8 lead early in the first set, before a 12-1 GVSU run put them up 22-9. They finished it out from there to take the 1-0 lead in the match. The final two sets were never in doubt, as the Lakers never trailed, dominating to take the sweep.
Brianna Stawski totaled nine kills and three blocks, both team-highs.
Kennedy Arp and
Sara Pahl each posted eight kills, while
Gabby Orlet distributed 26 assists.
Lexi Armstrong had 18 digs and Orlet notched 11.
