WALTHAM, MASS. – The Grand Valley State women's volleyball team wrapped up their opening weekend with a Saturday morning match against Central Missouri. The two teams battled for five sets, before the Jennies came out on top. This is the first loss of the season for the Lakers, dropping them to 3-1 to begin 2026.
GVSU took the opening set 25-14, taking an early lead then never looking back. Central Missouri responded with the next two set victories, each by the score 23-25. The Lakers forced a decisive fifth set with a 25-17 win in the fourth frame, but the Jennies ended the match with a 15-11 victory in the fifth and final game.
Freshman
Finley Arp had another strong game on the outside, posting 17 kills and 22 digs.
Paige Sanders and
Kennedy Arp each totaled 12 kills, with Arp also adding five blocks. Gracie Busold had 10 kills and 13 digs, with
Gabby Orlet dishing out 50 assists for the third straight game.
Lexi Armstrong dug out 22 balls on the backline.
