ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State women's tennis team picked their eighth straight win and at least a share of the GLIAC regular season championship after defeating Wayne State 6-1 Friday (Apr. 17) afternoon at the GVSU Tennis Courts. The Lakers improvd to 14-1 on the season and 6-0 in the GLIAC.
GVSU claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
Mischa Briggs and
Ipek Sakiroglu claimed a 7-5 win at No. 2 doubles.
Amanda Diaz and
Rachel Sam posted a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles.
Natasha Sengphrachanh and
Vale Mozas lost a 5-7 decision at the top singles position.
In singles action,
Natasha Sengphrachanh claimed a 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 three-set win at the top singles position.
Vale Mozas tallied a 6-4, 6-4 straight set win at No. 3 singles.
Ipek Sakiroglu posted a 6-2, 2-6, 6-0 three-set win at No. 4 singles.
Anna Soteras picked up a 6-1, 4-6, 10-0 three-set win at No. 5 singles.
Lauren Burkett claimed a dominate 6-0, 6-0 straight set win at No. 6 singles.
Mischa Briggs dropped a 6-0, 3-6, 6-7 three-set decision at No. 2 singles.
