ST. LOUIS, MO. – The Grand Valley State women's golf team began their final regular season tournament Sunday afternoon, partaking in the UMSL Spring Invitational. After the opening two rounds, the Lakers have a controlling lead as a team, with two golfers tied for first individually.
Results
The Lakers shot rounds of 289 (+5) and 293 (+9) to finish at nine over par, 13 strokes up in the lead. Host UMSL is second at +27, with Ferris State three strokes back of them in third. In fourth at +33 is North Georgia, who is followed by UIndy in fifth, shooting +43.
Evelyn Park and
Heida Rafnsdottir are both tied atop the individual leaderboard at one over par. Park carded rounds of 72 (+1) and 71 (E), sinking three birdies in each round. Rafnsdottir shot a 68 (-3) and a 75 (+4), making nine total birdies. In a tie for fourth is
Charlotte Goersch, who carded rounds of 74 (+3) and 73 (+2) with seven birdies, to end at +5.
Lea Stotz made three birdies across her rounds of 77 (+6) and 74 to finish in 13
th at +9. One shot back of her is
Rachael Krieger in a tie for 14
th. She made two birdies in each of her rounds of 75 and 77.
June Hsiao is tied for 56
th after making four birdies in her rounds of 89 (+18) and 75.
GVSU will play the final round tomorrow, teeing off at 10:30 eastern. They are paired with UMSL, Ferris State, and North Georgia.
