#8 GVSU Completes 4-Game Sweep At Missouri S&T; Winning 12-2 and 14-2 Monday

The Lakers are now 14-1

#8 Grand Valley State swept a non-conference doubleheader at Missouri S&T Monday, winning game one 12-2, followed by a 14-2 victory in game two. The Lakers', now 14-1 to start the 2026 campaign, equaled the 2008 squad that also started the year 14-1 under former Laker skipper Steve Lyon for the best start in GVSU Baseball history. The Lakers will face Augustana (12-4) Tuesday at 10 am (CT) in a 9-inning affair, followed by another 9-inning contest against Drury (8-4) at 2 pm (CT). 
 
Game 1
 
Duncan McLaughlin (3-0) was sensational on the mound with 5.1 innings of no-hit baseball. He yielded just one hit and one earned run in 6.0 innings with three strikeouts. Edward Konow finished the game with a scoreless seventh.  

GVSU scored two runs in the top of the first, five in the third and five more in the seventh. 

Offensively, SS Ayden VanEnkevort hit the Lakers' third grand slam in the last two games, while CF Jake Skaggs was 1-for-3 with a triple, three RBI, and three runs scored. 1B Jovan Gill doubled twice and drove in a run and 3B Caleb Estrada was 2-for-3 with a run scored. 
 
Game 2
Freshman Jack Kees tossed a complete game (7 innings), three-hit gem, yielding two runs with four strikeouts to improve to 4-0. 

The Lakers put up one run in the top of the first, five in the third, one in the fifth, four in the sixth and three more in the top of the seventh. 

SS Evan Morrison was 3-for-5 with two RBI and three runs scored, while C Nick Krstich was 2-for-4 with a double, three RBI and two runs scored. Freshman DH Kaden Howard was 2-for-4 with two RBI, freshman RF Josh Flemming was 2-for-3 with two RBI and VanEnkevort drove in a pair of runs. Skaggs was 1-for-2 with three runs and three walks.
