#8 Grand Valley State split a pair of games Tuesday in Springfield, Missouri. The Lakers defeated #20 Augustana 8-6, then dropped a 14-13 decision to host Drury. The Lakers played four games in 30 hours, including a 10 am start on Tuesday for game 1 and game two finished around 6 p.m. GVSU, 15-2 overall, will play a four-game series at Maryville (St. Louis, Mo.) starting Friday.

Game 1 – Augustana
The Lakers scored four runs in the bottom of the first, 1B
Jovan Gill hit a solo home run and LF
Caden Thelen came through with a bases loaded triple. 3B
Caleb Estrada doubled home DH
Kaden Howard and Gill scored on a balk in the second. Estrada scored on RF Ryan Stimic's single and Thelen doubled home Stimac to give GVSU an 8-3 lead in the fourth.Â
Zach Warren picked up the win on the mound, yielding three runs on two hits in 4.2 innings.
Ethan Houghtaling earned his second save on the season with three strikeouts in 1.1 innings pitched.
Ty Uchman got the start on the hill and went 3.0 innings, yielding three runs on four hits.Â
Thelen was 2-for-3 with four RBI, while Estrada was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI. Howard and Gill each collected two hits.Â

Game 2 – Drury
GVSU scored three runs in the top of the first, but Drury took a 4-3 lead with three runs in the third. The Lakers pushed two runs across in the fifth, but the Panthers tied it with a run in the fifth. Drury scored seven runs in the bottom of the sixth, but the Lakers came back with six in the top of the seventh. Drury scored two in the bottom of the seventh to take a 14-11 lead, only to have the Lakers answer with two runs in the top of the eighth on an
Evan Morrison 2-run double. Trailing 14-13, the Lakers loaded the bases with one out in the top of the ninth, but were unable to get the equalizer.Â

Morrison was 3-for-6 with two RBI, two runs scored and two doubles. Estrada, Skaggs and VanEnkevort each collected a pair of hits, while Gill, Estrada and VanEnkevort drove in a pair. Seven Laker pitchers saw action.Â
