#10 GVSU Completes Trip With a 5-0 Win Over Embry-Riddle

#10 Grand Valley State claimed a 5-0 shutout win over Embry-Riddle Sunday afternoon in Daytona Beach, Florida and finished the four-game trip with a 4-0 record. GVSU, now 20-4 on the year with all 24 games being played on the road, will open GLIAC action at home Friday (Mar. 27) versus Purdue Northwest. First pitch for the opener is set for 3 p.m.
 
Freshman pitcher Jackson Kees improved to 5-0 on the year, logging 7.0 shutout innings and yielding just five hits with six strikeouts. Keegan Bobbitt went the final 2.0 innings and preserved the Lakers' fourth shutout of the year.
 
The Lakers got on the board with a run in the top of the fourth. CF Jake Skaggs singled and moved to third on RF Ryan Stimac's single to right center. LF Caden Thelen executed a sac bunt safety squeeze that scored Skaggs. GVSU broke the game open with four runs in the top of the fifth. SS Evan Morrison singled with one out and DH Kaden Howard followed with walk. 1B Jovan Gill plated Morrison with a single and 3B Caleb Estrada doubled to score Howard. Skaggs drove in two with a single to left center to up the GVSU advantage to 5-0. 
 
Skaggs was 3-for-4 with two RBI, while Morrison, Gill and C Nick Krstich each provided two hits.
