WINTER PARK, FLA. – The Grand Valley State women's lacrosse team fell in a hard fought game at fourteenth-ranked Rollins on Thursday. The Lakers battled to the end but fell 17-15 to the Tars.
The Laker offense exploded in the first quarter, scoring seven times to lead by four after the opening 15 minutes. Rollins got one goal closer in the second quarter, but GVSU still led 10-7 at the break.
In the third quarter it was the Rollins offense that erupted, scoring eight times in the quarter, to lead 15-14 in the period. The Tars took a late three-goal lead in the fourth quarter, going up 17-14. GVSU scored their 15
th goal, but could not complete the comeback, falling to 0-6.
Three Lakers tallied hat tricks tonight, with
Eliana LaMange,
Leah Leonard, and
Ella Boose all registering three goals.
Kendra Swope scored twice, with
Jillian Bingman,
Delaney Smith,
Ainsley Shilling, and
Indira Marker all had one goal. Swope had two assists, while Boose, Marker, Shilling, Bingman, Smith, and
Gracie Bancroft had one.
Sarah Krause made 11 saves in the cage, picking up four groundballs. Boose and
Quinn McElroy both tallied two groundballs, and McElroy caused two turnovers.
Kayleigh Sandell had a team-high three draw controls.
