SLIPPERY ROCK, PENN. – The Grand Valley State women's lacrosse team dropped their final game of the weekend, falling to seventh-ranked Slippery Rock 10-6. The Lakers finished out their opening weekend of play at 0-2.
The two teams traded goals for the first two quarters, entering halftime tied at three. GVSU got the first two scores of the second half, getting goals from
Leah Leonard and
Gracie Bancroft. The Rock responded with seven of the final eight goals of the game to take the four-goal victory.
Sarah Krause stopped eight shots in net and picked up one groundball.
Kendra Swope had five groundballs, with
Ainsley Shilling grabbing three, and
Gracie Bancroft and
Quinn McElroy each having two. McElroy also caused two turnovers.
Eliana LaMange led the way with two goals, while Swope, Bancroft,
Jillian Bingman, and
Leah Leonard had one apiece. Bancroft, Bingman, and
Delaney Smith all dished out one assist. Smith and
Ella Boose each recorded three draw controls.
