ALLENDALE – The No. 13 Grand Valley State men's tennis team opened up the spring season with a dominate 6-1 win against Findlay Friday (Feb. 6) afternoon at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club. The Lakers improve to 3-0 on the season.
GVSU swept doubles action to claim the doubles point.
Bora Bakici and
Patricio Sepulveda claimed a 6-4 win at the top doubles position.
Stephen Claassen and
Lawrence Ivanov tallied a 7-5 win at No. 2 doubles.
Jorge Ruiz and
Axel Le Ho posted a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles.
In singles action,
Denys Zamaraiev claimed a 6-2, 0-6, 6-0 three-set win at the top singles position.
Bora Bakici tallied a 6-4, 6-3 straight set win at no. 2 singles. Patricio Seoulveda recorded a 6-2, 6-3 straight set win at No. 3 singles.
Jorge Ruiz posted a 2-6, 6-0, 7-6 three-set win at No. 4 singles.
Axel Le Ho notched a 7-5, 6-1 straight win at No. 5 singles.
Santiago Castellanos dropped a tough 6-7, 3-6 decision at No. 6 singles.
The Laker men will be back in action next week when they host Tiffin on Friday, February 13
th at 12:00 PM and McKendree on Saturday, February 14
th at 5:00 PM. Both matches will be played at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club in Grandville.
