#4 Grand Valley State finished second at the NCAA DII Super Region 3 Tournament Saturday at the University of Findlay with 140.5 points, just behind Glenville State's 142 points. However, the Lakers qualified a region-best eight to the NCAA Championships in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, crowning two individual champions,
Chris Donathan (149) and
Carter Blough (285), one second place finisher in
Josh Kenny and an incredible five, third place finishers. GVSU was a perfect 5-0 in third-place matches.
The NCAA Division II Wrestling Super Regionals is the toughest, single-day collegiate sport with only the top three moving on to the NCAA Championships. The Lakers were an incredible 20-2 on the back side of the bracket in elimination matches.
"I am so proud of our team for the effort, determination and grit they showed today at the NCAA Super Regionals," said first-year coach RJ Boudro. "We placed all 10 of our wrestlers and to go 20-2 in elimination matches is something that they earned through the work they put in during the duration of our season," added Boudro.
The NCAA Division II National Championships will take place March 13 and 14 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

rd Jack Parker (3-1) - Won back-to-back elimination matches, by fall over Ashland's Luke Acuna (4:41) and then claimed the third-place match 8-1 over Findlay's Billy Smith.

rd Jak Keller (4-1) – Won four consecutive elimination matches. Defeated Findlay's Nate Knowlton 4-1 in the consolation semi's and then defeated Ashland's Rylen Campbell 6-3 in the third-place match. Campbell defeated Keller in a first-round meeting.

th Preston LeFevre (2-3) – Dropped an opening round match to Findlay's Ashton Anderson, but defeated Elijah Hunter from Salem 18-3 and Donovan Paes from Ashland 16-1. Fell in the consolation semifinals to Carsen Richards from Lake Erie.

st Chris Donathan (4-0) – Donathan is now a four-time NCAA Championship qualifier. He defeated Logan Powell from Davis & Elkins 5-0, Enrique Sanchez from Blufield State 18-2, Micah Cotrell from Findlay 8-2 and then won a major decision over Gabriel Onoratio of Glenville State, 11-3.

rd Maclain Morency (4-1) – Morency dropped an 8-5 decision to Josh Howey from Lake Erie in the opening round, then won four consecutive elimination bouts to punch his ticket. Defeated Brody Orcutt from Davenport 6-0, Jeston Showalter from Davis & Elkins 10-7, Casey Barnett from Tiffin 3-0 and won the return matchup with Howey by a 3-1 score.

th Caden Jacobs (3-3) – Won an opening round match 9-0 over Authur Croom and then dropped a 5-3 decision to Leo Hess from Glenville State. Defeated Sebastian Gabarrete from Emmory & Henry 4-0 and then claimed a 9-2 decision over Seth Thomas from Salem, 9-2. Fell to Nate Barrett from Ashland in the consolation semifinals.

nd Josh Kenny (3-1) – Kenny, who is now a three-time NCAA Championship qualifier, dropped the title match, 4-1, in sudden victory overtime. He advanced to the championship match with wins over Clayton Downs of Salem (17-2), Thomas Dolo from Bluefield State (15-0) and Carter Winegardner from West Liberty State, 13-1.

rd Bradley Mayse (4-1) – Mayse dropped his opening round match to Ethan Lopez from Glenville State, but came back to win four consecutive elimination matches to advance to the NCAA Championships as a redshirt freshman. Mayse began his comeback with a 12-2 win over Ethan Ramsey from Davenport, then claimed an 8-0 win over Vincent Scaramuzzino from Lake Erie, 8-0. He won his return matchup with Lopez by a 4-1 score and then defeated David Davis from Tiffin, 8-6, to claim his berth in the NCAA Championships.

rd Brayden Mirjavadi (3-1) – Mirjavadi won his opening round bout 14-2, but dropped a semifinal contest to Ashland's Peyton Lemon. Mirjavadi claimed a 7-4 win over Salem's Iran Love and then won by fall over Tiffin's Max Millin at the 6:44 mark.

st Carter Blough (4-0) – Blough dominated the 285 weight class en route to claiming his second appearance at the NCAA Championships. He claimed a 13-3 win over Tyler Shellenbarger to open the tourney, then pinned Aidan Maldonado from Davis & Elkins at the 1:58 mark. He moved into the finals with a 7-1 decision over Ashland's Wyatt Bailey and won by tech fall (20-4) over West Liberty's Parker Bentley.
