With a victory on Thursday, the Lakers would clinch their fifth straight outright GLIAC regular season title. They clinched a share of the title with Tuesday night's win at Davenport. If the two teams are tied at the end of the regular season, they would share the conference title, and the one seed in the league tournament would be determined by tiebreakers.

On Tuesday, the Lakers took care of business at Davenport, defeating the Panthers 87-52. The win moved their record to 26-1 and 18-1 in league play, one game up on Ferris State for the top spot in the GLIAC. MacKenzie Bisballe led the way with her third double-double of the season, posting 19 points and 11 boards. Paige VanStee, Nicole Kamin, and Lauren Slagle all tallied 10 points in the win.

These two teams met up for the first time in the middle of January up in Big Rapids. After a close first half, the Lakers exploded for a 30-point third quarter to help propel them to an 88-59 win. GVSU shot 52% from the field and 50% from three in the win, recording 24 assists. Paige VanStee tied her career-high with 26 points, shooting 10-15 from the floor, with seven rebounds. Nicole Kamin totaled 15 points and eight assists, with Molly Anderson tallying 11 points and four assists. Both MacKenzie Bisballe and Lauren Slagle scored 10 points apiece.

Since their loss to GVSU, Ferris State has won 10 consecutive games, winning all by double-figures. They have risen to 13th in the country, their highest ranking this season, sitting at 23-4 overall and 16-2 in league play. Led by the two top scorers in the conference, Kadyn Blanchard (16.8) and Mia Riley (16.4), the Bulldogs average 79.1 points per game, shooting 43% from the field. On the defense side, Ferris State has the third-best scoring defense in the league, allowing 64 points per game.
