Lakers Shutout Northwood 7-0 Friday

GRANDVILLE, Mich. – The Grand Valley State women's tennis team dominated Northwood 7-0 Friday (Feb. 20) at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club in Grandville. The Lakers improve to 6-0 on the season. 
 
GVSU swept doubles action to claim the doubles point. Natasha Sengphrachanh and Vale Mozas claimed a 6-3 win at the top doubles position. Mischa Briggs and Ipek Sakiroglu tallied a 7-5 win at No. 2 doubles. Rachel Sam and Lauren Burkett posted a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles.
 
In singles action, Natasha Sengphrachanh claimed a 7-5, 2-6, 6-3 three-set win at the top singles position. Mischa Briggs posted a 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 three-set win at the No. 2 singles position. Ipek Sakiroglu tallied a 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 three-set win at No. 3 singles. Vale Mozas recorded a 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 three-set win at No. 4 singles. Anna Soteras claimed a dominate 6-1, 6-0 straight set win at No. 5 singles. Lauren Burkett added a 6-2, 6-1 straight set win at No. 6 singles. 
 
GVSU be back on the courts when they travel to Florida for three matches over spring break. The Lakers will open the trip at Florida Southern on Tuesday, March 10th at 2:00 PM in Lakeland, Florida.
