GRANDVILLE, Mich. – The Grand Valley State men's tennis team claimed a 5-2 win against Northwood Friday (Feb. 20) at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club in Grandville. The Lakers improve to 5-1 on the season.
GVSU claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
Bora Bakici and
Patricio Sepulveda tallied a 6-1 win at the top doubles position.
Stephen Claassen and
Lawrence Ivanov posted a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles.
Santiago Castellanos and
Denys Zamaraiev dropped a tough 2-6 decision at No. 3 doubles.
In singles action,
Bora Bakici claimed a 6-3, 6-4 straight set win at No. 2 singles.
Jorge Ruiz tallied a 6-3, 6-4 straight set win at No. 4 singles.
Axel Le Ho recorded a 6-4, 6-3 straight set win at No. 5 singles.
Stephen Claassen posted a 6-4, 6-1 straight set win at No. 6 singles.
Denys Zamaraiev dropped a tough 6-7, 6-2, 3-6 three-set decision at the top singles position.
Patricio Sepulveda fell 3-6, 0-6 at No. 3 singles.
