ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – The Grand Valley State men's tennis team finished one of the best seasons in program history after falling to Lubbock Christian 4-2 in the Elite Eight Wednesday (May 21) afternoon. The Lakers finish the season with a 19-3 record.
GVSU claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
Lucas Gonzalez and
Victor Lopes posted a 6-3 win at the top doubles position.
Denys Zamaraiev and
Chimo Minguez tallied a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles.
Stephen Claassen and
Lawrence Ivanov dropped a tough 2-6 decision at No. 2 doubles.
In singles action,
Patricio Sepulveda claimed a 6-3, 6-4 straight set win at No. 5 singles.
Lucas Gonzalez dropped a tough 3-6, 3-6 decision at No. 2 singles.
Victor Lopes fell 2-6, 4-6 at No. 3 singles.
Jorge Ruiz dropped a tough 3-6, 3-6 decision at No. 4 singles.
