Grand Valley State concluded the 2025 season Saturday (May 17) afternoon with a 5-4 loss to Northwood in the championship game of the NCAA Midwest Regional #2 in 12 innings. GVSU claimed an 18-3 victory over Lewis in an elimination game Saturday morning. The Lakers conclude the season with a 43-14 record in head coach
Jordan Keur's second season.
Game 2
The Lakers opening the game with a strong offensive punch, pushing across three runs on five hits in the top of the first. SS

Ryan Dykstra singled, followed by an RBI single by 1B

Brendan Guciardo recorded the 100th RBI of his career with a single that scored Dykstra and 3B
Caleb Estrada recorded an RBI single. Northwood scored three runs in the bottom half of the frame on three hits.
Neither team scored until 2B
Ayden VanEnkevort hit a solo home run in the top of the sixth to give GVSU a 4-3 lead. Northwood tied the game again on back-to-back doubles.
Both squads had scoring opportunities in the later portion of the game and in the extra innings and Northwood scored on a 2-out single in the bottom of the 11th for the win.
Senior
Allan Thorington was outstanding yielding three runs, one earned, on seven hits with three strikeouts. Senior
Will Goebel was effective and
Colby Phipps tossed 3.2 innings of four hit ball.
Game 1
GVSU claimed an 18-3 win over Lewis in the Saturday morning elimination game that was played in a cool temps and a misty rain for the majority of the game. The Lakers scored in each of the first seven innings, including six in the fourth and five in the sixth. GVSU pounded out 20 hits as eight of nine starters tallied two hits or more.
Gill was 2-4 with five RBI and a home run to lead the way. Morrison, Dykstra, DH
Jonas Gulbrandsen and Estrada each recorded two hits and drove in two runs, while CF
Caden Thelen was 3-5 with two runs and an RBI and 2B
Ayden VanEnkevort was 3-4 with four runs and an RBI. RF
Ryan Stimac was 1-4 with three runs and an RBI and
Brendan Guciardo was 2-3 and scord two runs
Sophomore
Owen Avery was stellar en route to the win, yielding three runs on three hits with seven strikeouts. After giving up a 2-run home run in the top of the first, Avery retired 12 consecutive batters and did not allow a hit until top of the seventh with two outs.
Edward Konow pitched the final 2.1 innings, striking out two and allowing just two hits.
